# Connect Agent Skills

> Attach skills, authorize accounts and review proposed tool actions.

A skill gives an individual a capability: retrieving information, creating an artifact or proposing an external action. Skills differ from read-only audience data sources.

## Attach a skill

1. Open **Capabilities**, then **Skills**.
2. Choose **Connect** or **Manage**.
3. Select an available skill and read its description.
4. Choose Novice, Intermediate or Expert proficiency.
5. Authorize any required account and complete the connection.

The current runtime accepts built-in skills. Creating a custom template or uploading a SKILL.md does not make it executable; custom/imported skill admission is not available yet. Their description and connection state determine what they can do. Proficiency influences use; it does not grant account permissions.

## Use it in chat

Ask for a concrete outcome in [chat](https://imario.ai/docs/synthetic-individuals/manage/chat). Watch the tool activity and result. A proposal, pending approval and completed action are different states.

For actions requiring approval, inspect the target, content and parameters on the approval card. Approve the intended version or deny it. Authorizing an account does not replace action-level review.

Only the requester or an appropriate workspace owner/admin can approve. A resolved approval is not an invitation to execute the same action again.

## Troubleshooting

Check the assignment and connection if a skill is unavailable. Inspect a failure before retrying. A drafted email is not necessarily sent.

This guide describes tools in individual chat. It does not promise that every research interview executes every connected skill.
